GANG INVESTIGATOR'S HANDBOOK
Street gangs, prison gangs and biker
gangs -- made up of every kind of criminal, from vandals and drug dealers
to the most violent predators -- present an especially difficult problem
for law enforcement. Gang Investigator's Handbook is a comprehensive guide
to combating these dangerous groups, based on the successes of many of
the best gang detectives in the field.
Matthew O'Deane has been a California
police officer since 1992, and over half of that time he has been tasked
with targeting gangs. He worked for the National City Police Department
for 10 years before moving to the San Diego District Attorney's Office,
where he has served in the Gang Prosecution Unit since 2002. He earned
his Ph.D. in public policy, master's degree in public administration and
bachelor's degree in criminal justice. O'Deane has investigated hundreds
of serious gang crimes, including more than 40 gang-related murders, and
continues to investigate and research gangs on a daily basis.

Lessons From a Gang Cop is not a book
about the history of gangs, how they communicate, or how they operate in
North America. Many of these kinds of books already exist so in contrast,
this book will be one that is focused on high-impact success principles
and real-life inspirational stories from the field that will help you to
be a more effective, productive and healthy law enforcement officer.
A 27-year veteran with the LAPD and
CGIA Instructor, Tony Moreno is a
qualified gang specialist who has devoted a career to developing information
on gangs, investigating gangs and gang-related crime, and providing training
to countless law enforcement professionals, agencies and private companies.

Bob Morrill started working street
gangs in East Los Angeles in 1966 as a policeman for the Monterey Park
Police Department. He along with three members of the California Department
of Corrections (Parole Department) put together the original Prison Gang
Task Force, originally called the MTF (Monterey Park Task Force).
He was the first coordinator of this group, which had its start in 1972.
In the beginning it was the PGTF members who trained some of the CDC security
officers and educated many Police officers about the group known as the
Mexican Mafia or “La eMe”. Bob has also participated in numerous seminars
pointing out the dangers of the “prison gangs”. Although the Task
Force was an intelligence gathering group, Bob was involved in the arrests
of many of the top “shot callers” of the Mexican Mafia, including the “Honorary”
Godfather Joe Morgan. For Sales Click

Gang Investigations: A Street Cop's
Guide
Derrick Watkins, Richard Ashby
Long before international terrorists
threatened our borders, local gang members terrorized community streets.
Today, street gangs continue to destroy neighborhoods and keep citizens
held hostage in their homes. Gang Investigations: A Street Cop’s Guide
provides a step-by-step guide to gang identification, arrest, search and
seizure, prosecution, and other programs that have been used successfully
by criminal justice agencies nationwide. Anti-gang strategies are discussed
along with the results of their implementation. This guide will better
prepare every police officer and detective to deal with the modern street
gang. With Watkins’ and Ashby’s knowledge, departments and officers can
develop better strategies to curb gang violence and the fear of street
terrorists. For

How did Graffiti get started? What
do those words say and what's their meaning? How do you locate the vandals
if they're not caught in the act? Once they are caught what happens? Why
do they tag? These are all questions that will be answered when you read
Understanding and Investigating Graffiti.
Graffiti ranks consistently within the
top three problems in neighborhoods and communities, yet most every city
and law enforcement agency has failed to take any type of real action.
Is this really serving the needs of the community? Although many agencies
will provide a graffiti removal team to paint over some of the graffiti,
the crime itself goes unpunished in some communities. What kind of message
is this sending to the vandals who seek to damage and sometimes destroy
property?

There is no gang turf more desperately
unique than that hidden among the 464 square miles that make up the City
of Los Angeles. It is a fragile place; both tantalizing and repulsive,
where wild fires can scorch hilltop celebrity homes as easily as gang members
decimate a housing project with automatic rifle fire.
The Gangs of Los Angeles is a classic,
real life account of American crime. From the early Tomato Gangs of 1890's
Boyle Heights to the modern Crips and Mara Salvatrucha, with side trips
through an Irish Dogtown, the gang wars of "Happy Valley", Sleepy Lagoon
and the yellow journalism of the Hearst Press, and a tragic murder at Sunset
and Vine, Dunn recounts the events and notorious denizens that spawned
LA's gang subculture.
About the Author
William Dunn is a Detective
Sergeant with the Los Angeles Police Department. A former CRASH officer
and renowned gang expert, Dunn has instructed law enforcement nationwide
regarding the current MS-13 gang epidemic. A UCLA graduate, Dunn lives
near L.A.
